Engineering in Society

I took Engineering in Society in my 5th semester, it is core subject. So, i do not have any reason for not to take it or replace it hee

The subject supposed to be fun. When it comes to the boring lecturers (read: sleepy) and the classes are always full of students. I just dont like, i can not concentrate if it is too much students, even it is being held in theater.

Many things i can gain from this subject, but the interesting one is when the lecturers talked about BEM (Board of Engineers,  Malaysia) and IEM (The Institution of Engineers Malaysia). Honestly, I was surprised if there were such those organizations exist. I never imagine about how engineering has own board, has own code of professional conduct. And in BEM, there are some steps if you want to reach the top level (read: Professional Engineering), how well organized this board. I mean, it is not asal-asalan. Well organized. And how powerful this board is, you can not apply jobs in certain companies if you are not registered in BEM.

Yes, i kind of norak. Because, i am thinking why in my lovely country there is no such thing like that. I was imagined, one day Indonesia should have, at least one. We can not see with one-eye of engineering profession, engineer is the one who changed the country, the one who developed country, the one who make your life is 'life'. We can not live without intervention of engineers. YES, I feel more proud to become an engineer in future, insyaAllah.

  2. eh sorry my mistake. Indonesia has Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia (PII), or Indonesian Engineers Association.
